Cookie Policy

Cookies we set

• voltcheckr_attr: remembers how you reached us: the kind of site that sent you, the page you landed on, any referral code in the link and, if you came from an ad or a campaign link, its campaign tags and ad click IDs. We use it to learn which ads and links bring people to the site. Kept for 90 days after your latest visit.
• voltcheckr_internal: marks a browser as our own, so our testing is left out of our numbers and our ad measurement. Set only through a link we use on our own devices. Kept for 1 year.
• vc_broker and vc_auth: keep an advisor or a member of our staff signed in to our private tools. Set only when they sign in. Kept for 30 days.

Cookies set by advertising tools

• _fbp and _fbc: set by the Meta Pixel on our site: an ID for your browser, and the ad click ID when you arrive from a Meta ad. Meta uses them to measure our ads and to show you ads. Meta decides how long they last.
• Google's advertising cookies: where we use Google's advertising tag, it sets Google's own cookies (such as _gcl_au) to measure our ads.

Kept in your browser

These are stored in your browser rather than as cookies. Most never leave it; the ones we receive are marked.

• voltcheckr_locale: your language choice. Kept until you clear it.
• vc_session_id: a random ID for this browser tab, sent with our own analytics so we can see the steps of one visit together. Cleared when you close the tab.
• vc_known_email: the email address you last gave us in one of our forms on this browser. When you go on to choose a plan, we receive it with that choice, for the follow-up emails described where you gave it. When the checkout step says so, it is also passed to our enrollment partner's checkout so you do not retype it. Kept until you clear it.
• vc_handoff_… and switch markers: the plan you chose and its sign-up link, so we can offer to take you back to it, and a marker so one sign-up start is counted once. Kept until you clear them.
• planDetails:…: details you type about your current plan on a results page, so they are still there when you come back. Never sent to us.
• vc:enroll-prefill: the street and city you typed to look up your account, used to fill in the enrollment form. We receive them only if you submit that form. Cleared when you close the tab.
• Pop-up and banner flags: remember that you closed a pop-up or a bar, or saw a celebration, so it does not come back in the same tab. Cleared when you close the tab.

Analytics

Vercel Analytics counts visits and page views without setting cookies. Our own analytics use the tab ID above.

Our partner's checkout

If you finish a home plan sign-up inside our page, our enrollment partner's checkout runs in a frame and can set its own cookies under its own web address. Its own policies apply to them.

Your choices

You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time, and block cookies for our site or for Meta and Google. The site still works; it will forget your language choice and anything saved for your next visit.

Blocking cookies does not stop our server from sending Meta some of the actions you take on our site, as our Privacy Policy explains.
