When does your electricity contract end?
If you don't know, that's how people end up rolled onto an expensive month-to-month plan. Rate Watch is free: tell us the month and we'll remind you at the right time to compare and switch without a penalty.
Just the month and your email. Nothing else.
Why the timing matters
When a fixed-rate plan expires and you do nothing, most Texas providers automatically move you to a default month-to-month plan, and those usually cost more. Switching too early is no good either: most plans charge an early termination fee. The right window is the one around your end date, and Texas PUCT rules let you leave a fixed plan without a penalty in the final 14 days before it expires.
Rate Watch exists so you never miss that window. It's free and does exactly one thing: remind you at the right time.
Exactly what we send
Three free emails, not one more. If you don't know your date, a single help email in about a month instead.
Your renewal window opens. We give you a heads-up with plenty of time to compare calmly.
One short reminder: there's still time to pick your next plan.
The last nudge. In the final 14 days you can switch without an early termination fee.
How to find your contract end date
- 1Look on your bill for a line like "Contract End Date" or "Agreement Expiration." It's almost always on the first page, near your plan name.
- 2Check the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) you got when you signed up: it shows your plan length (12, 24, 36 months). Add that to your start date.
- 3Your provider must send you an expiration notice before your contract ends. If you got one, the date is on it.
- 4None of that handy? Call the number on your bill and ask: "When does my contract end?" It takes a minute.

Nothing. Rate Watch is free. Voltcheckr is paid a referral fee by the electricity supplier if you later choose to switch through our comparison, so we never need to charge you.
How many emails will I get?
Exactly three, timed around your renewal: when your window opens about 45 days out, about two weeks before, and right before your end date. Then we stop. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
What if I don't know when my contract ends?
Choose "I'm not sure." We'll send one email in about a month showing you where to find the date on your bill. When you know the month, submit it and the real reminders take over.
