Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

By using Voltcheckr you agree to these terms. They're straightforward and we try to keep them short.

What we are

Voltcheckr LLC (PUCT Broker Registration BR260102) operates voltcheckr.com, a free comparison tool and registered Texas electricity broker. We help Texans find cheaper electricity plans by reading their current bill and comparing live rates from Texas electricity suppliers against their actual usage. We are not an electricity provider or utility.

Use of the service

Voltcheckr is free for personal use. You may not: scrape, resell, or automate the service; use it to defraud any electricity provider; or upload any bill that doesn't belong to a household you control.

No guarantees

We calculate savings based on the data on your uploaded bill and the live plan rates quoted by Texas electricity suppliers. Those rates can change between the time we show them to you and the time you sign up. We pull them in real time but cannot guarantee a rate will still be available when you enroll.

You should read the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) on any plan before switching. The final contract is between you and the provider you choose; Voltcheckr is not a party to that contract.

Early termination fees

If your current plan has an early termination fee, switching may trigger it. We try to surface that risk in the results, but you're responsible for verifying the fee on your current bill or by calling your current provider before switching.

Affiliate commissions

Voltcheckr earns commissions from some providers when you switch through our links. This never affects the ranking of plans, rankings are based purely on your actual cost. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Data use + licensing

By uploading a bill, you grant Voltcheckr a perpetual, royalty-free license to use the anonymized aggregate statistics derived from your bill for research, journalism, product improvement, public reporting, our public API, and commercial data licensing. "Anonymized aggregate" means data reported at the 3-digit ZIP prefix level or coarser, with no personally identifying fields, in groupings large enough that no individual household can be re-identified. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of future aggregate use by deleting your data. Any aggregate statistics published before your deletion request remain as previously published, but none of your data will be used in future aggregates.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
