Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: April 2026

Voltcheckr is free for you because we earn a referral commission from some Texas electricity providers when you switch through our links. This is how we keep the service free.

How it works

We have affiliate partnerships with Choose Energy, EnergyBot, and several individual retail electricity providers. When you click "Switch to this plan" on a plan we partner with, we hand you off to the provider's signup page with a tracking link. If you complete the switch, we receive a one-time commission.

The commission is paid by the provider, not by you. Your electricity rate is the same whether you sign up through Voltcheckr or directly on the provider's site.

Our ranking is honest

Affiliate commissions never influence the order of the plans we show you. We rank every plan in your area by what it actually costs at your real usage — calculated from the tiered rates on the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) plus delivery charges and base fees.

If a non-affiliate plan is cheaper, we show it first. If an affiliate plan has a bill-credit gimmick that makes it worse for your usage, we filter it out just like any other gimmick plan. Honest rankings are the entire reason this product exists.

What we don't do

  • We do not accept payment to rank a plan higher.
  • We do not accept "featured" placements.
  • We do not hide plans we don't have an affiliate relationship with.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

FTC compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides. We aim to be upfront about how we make money because that's the only way an honest comparison tool can work.
