Who does what

Why use a broker?

You choose the supplier. Your utility continues delivering power.

How we're paid

No separate fee: suppliers pay us a commission when a contract is signed.

Why use Voltcheckr

Suppliers price the same business differently. Go direct and you see one number. Ask us once and see multiple offers side by side, so you can see who charges less.

How we handle data

We use your bill and usage to prepare your quote, and share them with suppliers only with your authorization. We never sell your data.

Texas focus

Texas is our specialty.

Choice follows the service address and the utility named on the bill, never the city name alone.

Renewal Reminder

  • Custom Rates

Rates priced for your utility, your renewal month and, with a bill, your usage.

  • Clear Terms

Fixed supply rates, each with its supplier, term and start month. No supplier conditions attached.

  • Sign Up Online

Pick an emailed rate and sign up on our site with your yearly usage or a recent bill (some plans need the bill). The supplier's contract then comes by email to sign.

  • Right on Time

Emails start about 90 days before your contract ends, or right away if it is closer, so you can renew before it rolls to a month-to-month rate that can cost more.

Rates in your inbox before you renew. Stop anytime.

Broker disclosure: Voltcheckr LLC (Texas PUCT Broker Registration BR260102) is a broker with no affiliated supplier. The supplier you choose pays us a commission. You can stop using Voltcheckr anytime at no cost. By continuing you acknowledge our broker disclosures.

Common questions

How is Voltcheckr paid?

No separate fee: suppliers pay us a commission when a contract is signed. You sign your contract directly with the supplier you choose, and our commission is included in the rate that supplier quotes. Details are on our compensation page.

Do I need a bill to start?

No. Start with your business ZIP and a rough monthly usage to compare live rates. A recent bill helps confirm service details and billed usage. A supplier may ask for usage history or account information before it confirms an offer.

Can my business choose a supplier?

It depends on the service address and the utility that delivers power there. Many Texas addresses can choose a supplier. An address served by a municipal utility or co-op that has not opted into retail competition, or by a regulated utility outside ERCOT's competitive market, has no supplier choice. Your bill names your utility, our Texas service-area guides show who serves each area, or ask us to check the address.

How long does a quote take after I send a request?

Where the ZIP is in Texas retail-choice territory and live plans match your account, your plan options arrive by email within an hour; where none match, the account is priced by custom quote. Custom pricing is prepared the same business day when you ask inside advisor hours (7am–7pm CT, Monday–Saturday), otherwise the next business day.

What if I have multiple locations?

Send them in one request. Have each service address ready, and a recent bill for each if you have one. We review the locations together and gather what suppliers need to price them.

Do you work with all business types?

Yes: restaurants, retail, offices, warehouses, places of worship, healthcare and small businesses. The service address decides, not the business type: a Texas address on lines open to retail choice can shop a supplier.

What do Texas businesses pay for electricity on average?

The average Texas commercial account paid 8.66¢ per kWh all-in, supply and delivery together, versus 14.19¢ nationally (EIA, 06/2026), and used about 9,701 kWh a month (EIA, through 2026). Supplier quotes are the supply portion only, so they are not directly comparable to that all-in average. That usage average mixes corner stores with hospitals, so any one business varies widely. Businesses in deregulated Texas territory choose their electricity supplier, and delivery stays with the local TDU with any supplier.
